Fits of laughter and moments of tranquility seen during kavi sammelan in Graphic Era University
Hum apnay jaan ke dushman ko apni jaan kehte hain…
Dehradun, 15th April: A unique style of satire and humour mesmerized the audience during 16th kavi sammelan organized in Graphic Era University. The poet’s lines were full of patriotism that also raised some of the burning issues of the society. Amongst all this the audience was often seen in fits of laughter and later in a somber mood. The entire canopy echoed with the sound of claps and uproar. On this occasion, renowned poet, Dr Rahat Indori was awarded with cash prize of rupees one lakh and bestowed with the title of ‘Graphic Era Kavya Gaurav Samman’.
President, Graphic Era Educational Group, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala inaugurated the kavi sammelan by lighting the lamp in the presence of all the guests. Soon after this the essence of ganga jamuna tehzeeb and feeling of compassion filled in couplets, led the audience hypnotized. Renowned poet and lyricist Dr. Rahat Indori, was heard amidst loud applause by the audience. Even today Dr Rahat mesmerized the audience with his unique style. He presented national issues in a very different manner, “ Hum apni jaan ke dushman ko apni jaan kehte hain, Mohabbat ki isi mitti ko Hindustan kehte hain, fir uske baad chahe ye zubaan katti hai…kat jaye, humnay jo kuch bhi kehna hai, Alal Aelaan kehte hain..”
He further said, “Jo duniya mein sunai de, usay kehte hain khamoshi, jo aankho mein dikhai de usay toofan kehte hain…”, “Jo ye dewar ka suraakh k saazish ka hissaa hai, magar hum isko apnay ghar ka roshandan kehte hain”…
Padmshree Surendra Dubey tickled the audience with his satirical poetry. His take on political issues led the audience into fits of laughter and at the same time made them think. “Hey bhagwan kisi ko aisi saza mat dena, Rahul jais jawani mat dena, Advani jaisa budhapa mat dena…” His couplets were full of political sarcasm and societal issues. “Jo ladkiyan apni kitabon mein aamir or salman ki photo dabati hain, unhi ladkiyon ki shaadi aksar jaithalal se hoti hai”…
Renowned veer ras poet, Dr. Hariom Panwar engulfed the audience with new enthusiasm and energy. His composition was much appreciated by the audience. “ Phool aman ke kabhi nhi khilte, kaayar pariparti mein, Nehru ji ke shwet kabootar mare pade hain ghaati mein, Dilliwalon apnay man ko budh karo ya krudh karo, Kashmir ko daan karo ya gaddaron se yuddh karo”…
Among other poets, Mumtaz Naseem Aligarhi also awed the audience with her couplets. “ Unki tujhe kaise ilm na ho saka, badi door tak ye khabar gai ke tere shehar ki shayera, tere intezar mein mar gai, koi baat thi, koi tha sabab jo mein vada kar k mukar gai, tere pyar par toh yakeen tha, mein khud apnay aap se dar gai”. One after the other she recited her couplets like, “Vo tere mizaaj ki baat ya mere mizaaj ki baat h, tu meri nazar mein na gir saka, mein teri nazar se utar gai…”
Coordinating the kavi sammelan, Dr Praveen Shukal forced their audience to laugh their lungs out and he shared his experience in couplets like, “ jaane kitne anubhavon kayhi bus saar antim, mat kabhi karna kisi se koi bhi takrar antim, zindagi ki uljhano se joojh kar jaana maine, na koi bhi jeet antim, na koi haar antim…” He also gave words to political situations and said, “ jaane kitno ki charkha ghuma di, ki modi ji ne khel kar diya, ek over m century bana di, ki modi ji ne khel kar diya…”
Dr Rahat Indori was bestowed with the title of ‘Graphic Era Kavya Gaurav Samman’. Chief Patron, Graphic Era Group, Shri R. C. Ghanshala and President, Graphic Era Group, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala awarded this title to Dr Rahat. Chancellor, Graphic Era Deemed University, Dr. R. C. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Dr L. M. S. Palni, Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr.) Sanjay Jasola and other office bearers and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Prior to this Achievers meet was organized in Graphic Era Hill University. During the meet founder and President, Graphic Era Group, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala addressed the gathering and credited the success to hardworking students and their parents. He said that many alumni are already working in top multinational companies across the world and have established themselves well. He said that special conducive environment, state of art infrastructure and latest technologies are some of the reason for this success. This is the reason why many students are working in top world companies and are getting handsome packages. Dr Ghanshala also announced the setting up of medical college and hospital with latest technologies and infrastructure. In the end he also answered to the questions raised by the students. This was followed by a huge cake cutting ceremony.
On this occasion, Alumni Meet was also organized where several sports competition and cultural programs took place. Alumni working in world renowned multinational companies like Apple and Microsoft also participated in the event.

GEHU International Model United Nations is an International Conference where the participants will enhance their speaking and parliamentary deliberation skills. The event will be taking place in a span of 2 days i.e. 21 - 22 April, 2018. The Committees of the Event are:

3. All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM)
4. Lok Sabha

It is an exciting collaboration of traditional turned to contemporary while keeping the ethos integral and intact. The presentation will be the first of its kind which will focus on the Himalayan States of India with a vision to manifest sustainability for the artisan community.
Beautifully hand woven Kullu patterns along with checks and chevrons, Naga motifs converted to super fine dainty knit structures, Assam inspired collection with geometric weave patterns developed into structured garments, Uttarakhand ensembles inspired from Aipan, Pichoda, Architecture, and Brahmkamal are the essences of the extravaganza.
UTTARAAGAM ‘18 celebrates the spirit of Indian traditions through high fashion niche market garments and accessories created by the young designers through four rounds based on the theme of Himalayan traditions:
Urbane Chic: Knits build amazingly breathtaking structures and silhouette. The intrinsic inspiration of the motifs, colors, and styles from the lovely state of Nagaland forms the base of the collection. Sleek silhouettes are created in micro modal fiber and very fine knits which is a rarity in India.
Allurance: This amazingly structured collection inspired by the beautiful indigenous elements of Assam is created for very vogue occasions. Innovative silhouettes look gorgeous in beautiful weaves, mekhla chadar and embellished rhino inspired motifs to name a few. A blend of tradition and contemporary represents the futuristic fashion vision.
Pret a Closet: The beautiful intertwined patterns, mingling colors and a remarkable artisan value are the charms of this round which takes its inspiration from the hill state of Kullu. With this collection, the budding designers are celebrating the traditional weaves and silhouette styles of Kullu converted to very chic upmarket contemporary designs.
Folkloric Bliss: The inspiration behind this round is the enigmatic state of Uttarakhand with its diverse inspirational elements like Brahmkamal, Aipan art and the wide and flowy silhouettes of the hill communities. The intrinsic elements have taken a full bloom through digital prints and vivacious colors on the designer silhouettes.
The effort of the Department of Fashion Design is to bring the ethos of the rich heritage of textiles of our Himalayan hill states into structured contemporary silhouettes very apt for the present day conscious consumer.
