Highlights


School of Commerce and School of Management jointly organized Management and Commerce fest – PRATIBHA 2018 held on 26th-28th April 2018. The aim of the fest was to provide students of commerce and management a platform to showcase their talent along with their managerial skills. In this fest, various activities like Bulls & Bears, Brand War, Logo Rangoli were organized. 


A quiz on ‘Mutual Funds’ was organised by students of BCom (H) under the guidance of Mr Amar Singh. The objective behind conducting the quiz was to make students understand the concept, role and advantage of a mutual fund which would help students to understand the various schemes of mutual fund such as equity, debt, hybrid and other schemes. The quiz also aimed at preparing students for various online tests and certifications on mutual fund.


School of Commerce organized ‘Business Pitch’ an event to showcase B-Plans. This activity comprised of three different but related activities i.e. poster making, Ad-making and logo design. The participants were asked to prepare a poster of their business plan and also created an advertisement and logo for the new enterprise. The activities were organized during ‘Omnithon 2018’. 

  1. Dr V M Tripathi was awarded PhD on 25th January 2018. The title of his thesis was ‘Rural Microfinance in Uttrakhand: A study of Agricultural Finance in Terai Districts of Udham Singh Nagar and haridwar’. He completed his research work under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Arvind Mohan.
  2. Dr Arvind Mohan, Professor was awarded with ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ for his contribution as a member or Organizing Committee for organizing a seminar on ‘Preparing for The Age Of Future Technologies’ during 16th-17th March 2018 at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun.

  2. Dr Arvind Mohan, Professor attended a FDP (from 26th-30th March 2018) on Machine Learning and Applications at ABS IIIT Gwalior.
  3. Dr V M Tripathi, Associate Professor, attended Two-weeks FDP from 12th – 23rd April 2018  on Entrepreneurship organized by TBI-KIET Ghaziabad and TBI Graphic Era (Deemed to be) University. The FDP was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, New Delhi.
  4. Mr. Amar Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce attended a workshop on ‘Conducting & Crafting Quality Research’ conducted by IIM Ahmedabad in partnership with Graphic Era (Deemed to be) University during 28-29 April 2018.

School of Commerce has always been at the forefront of encouraging students to enhance their employable skills by engaging themselves in various cross cultural and extra-curricular activities. One such activity where students of School of Commerce have prevailed are Language Courses conducted in the University. 50 students of School of Commerce have registered themselves and are attending the Spanish Language Classes organized in Graphic Era Hill University with Trainer Mr. Hugo Alves.

 

Puneet Gandhi, a student of School of Commerce, got an opportunity to represent India in the Asia Pacific region at the APAC4U Conference in Malaysia in November 2016 where, not only did he get a chance to develop his Leadership skills, but also get an opportunity to interact with some Industry stalwarts and showcase his pet project, Wings, which deals with basic sanitation issues faced by women in India at a global scale. Some eminent personalities whom he interacted with during the course of this conference represented the biggest corporate houses of the world such as Paypal- Asia Pacific Director- Mr. Azim Iqbal, CEO and founder of Chat time Malaysia- Mr. Bryan Loo, Mr. Wong Sheue Yann - Divisional general manager of cooperating service & Youth icon of Malaysia Mr. Michael Teoh Su Lim.

 

Department of commerce has consistently  encouraged students to take part in competitive examination and other professional courses like CA and CS Foundation. Some students have also won prizes in NCC and Sports.
TERI (The Energy & Resources Institute) and TERI University had organized a pan-India Inter-University Competition on Water Resources Management.

 

This innovative and competitive project was designed to check students' level of awarness and personal comprehension about water bodies close to their places of residence/study. The competition would thus allow students all over India to develop a multi-stakeholder understanding of the need for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) through direct action and would make the TERI expertise and resources, opportunities for internships, research and networking and specialized mentoring by German experts available to all the participants.A team from Graphic Era Hill University too participated in this competition. This team comprised of Abhinav Bahuguna of BSc IT, Lavanshi Anand and Shailja Chaurasia of BCom (Hons), and Pratyuesh Kala and Rajat Panwar of B.Tech (CSE and ECE respectively) and have successfully cleared the Stage 1 of the Competition among over 100 teams participating.

Ivjyot Singh and Inderdeep Singh of B.Com (Honors) visited Tomsk, Russia for an international internship.

 


The School of Commerce organized a one-day workshop for BCom (H) students to enhance their practical knowledge in the field of financial market. The workshop was delivered by Mr Rajesh Sharma, an Alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad having more than 25 years of experience (as Fund Manager, Advisor, Consultant and Head-Research)


A work The School of Commerce organized a workshop on 'E-filing of Income-tax Return' for faculty members on 23rd July 2019. The focus of this workshop was on providing hands-on experience to the participants in order to enable them file their ITR electronically. Initiated by Dr Kamal Pant and supported by CA Bijyalaxmi, Mr Kawalpreet Singh, and Mr Barun Srivastava, this workshop was a great success.

The School of Commerce organized a guest lecture by Mr Vaibhav Mediratta on October 12, 2018. Mr Vaibhav has 11+ years of experience as a professional trainer in the area of Finance. He delivered a session on Opportunities available in the field of Finance and Accounts along with the skill sets required by the students to be competitive in the market. The students of BCom (H) and MCom participated in the event. The talk was very informative and full of interaction.


The School of Commerce organized a guest lecture on ‘Recent Trends in Marketing Strategies’ for BCom (H) and MCom students on 4 February 2019. The lecture was delivered by Dr V K Singh, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar.

  • Mr P. Bhattacharya, V.P. BSE Institute, Mumbai has given expert lecture on Fundamental and Technical Analysis.

 


 Mr Puneet Gandhi, a student of BCom (H) was a part of First India-Russia Youth Parliament. This parliament with the theme “Vision for Future” dedicated to 70th Year of diplomatic relations between India & Russia was held at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra (PBK), New Delhi in March 2018. 


More than 20 students of BCom (H) participated in various activities of NCC conducted durimg Jan-May 2018.


Mr Utkarsh Gupta, student of BCom (H) third semester participated in GBU Inter-University Sports Event 2018. The team won the runner-up trophy for our university. 


Students of Students of BCom (H) IV won 3rd Rank in National Fiesta Inter B-School Quiz Competiton held on 23rd Feb 2019 organized by GKV Haridwar.


Students of BCom (H) I semester participated in 5th National Level Poster Competition organized by Faculty of Management Studies, Gurukula  Kangri Vishwavidyalaya Haridwar on 1st Novemeber 2018.
