About the Department
The Department of Environmental Science at Graphic Era Hill University was established in 2011. Since its inception, the department is committed to providing education to the scholars and focuses on the conservation of natural resources through Research & Development activities and environment awareness campaigns. Department of Environmental Science has developed an online course (MOOC) for the Commonwealth of Learning (COL). In this series, the department has developed the content and lecture video series on Biodiversity Conservation and conservation skill.
A workshop on “Conservation of Biological Resources as per Biological Diversity Act & Rules”. was successfully organized by the department. Almost every year the faculty members of the Environmental Science department attend/participate in the workshops, national/ international conferences, paper presentations and faculty development programs. The department is contributing significantly towards the cause of environmental issues (i.e. ecology, natural resource conservation and management) by publishing its research findings in reputed national/international/impact factor journals.
The department has water and soil testing instruments like BOD incubator, Spectrophotometer, Digital DO, pH, conductivity meter, Dust Sampler etc.
Faculty members of the department are associated with various scientific bodies and significantly contribute to highlight the pressing environmental issues at international level.
To provide the facts and awareness of social environment issues in Uttarakhand and Indian Himalayan Region and help to develop the strategy for the conservation of Natural resources.
